Much of New South Wales has been experiencing above average overnight temperatures for the past few nights. On Tuesday, strong northwesterly winds combined with cloudy conditions kept overnight temperatures three to eight degrees above average in the Sydney region. In the city temperatures only got as low as 12 degrees, 3 above the average.
Last night overnight temperatures were even warmer than the previous with strong northwesterly winds keeping most areas from cooling. Richmond had its warmest July night in 14 years staying 10 degrees above average at 14 degrees. In Sydney overnight minimums only reached 16 degrees, 8 above average and the coolest July night in 19 years.
Winter temperatures are due to return by the end of this week as winds tend more southwesterly bringing cold air over the southeast and through NSW.
