Top End build-up enough to send you troppo

Darwin may have had its first storm and decent rain since last Wet Season on Tuesday night but its been searing hot the rest of the time.

Monday, October 6, reached 36.1, the hottest October day since 2003
by nearly 2 degrees - a huge amount in the ever constant tropics.

So far this month, every day and every night bar 2 have been above average, making it the hottest start to October in more than 5 years.

The increasing humidity is the extra nasty at this time of year: relative humidities this week have been sitting above 60-70% most afternoons, making temperatures feel well above 35 degrees.

Hot air lingering over northern Australia near a low pressure trough means temperatures are likely to stay at 35 degrees or above for at least the next three days; not good news with the continued blackouts in the region.
