A trough is strengthening over southeast Queensland, and rainy days should bring the highest falls in more than a month to the area over the coming days.
Although storms have brought good rain to southwestern parts of the state recently, the coast and near coastal regions have largely missed out.
Cloud is now building over central inland Queensland and as an upper level pool of cold air slides up from Victoria, instability and cloud will increase, bringing showers east of the Central Highlands and Darling Downs.
Showers will tend to rain overnight Thursday. By Saturday morning, falls of 10 to 20 mm are likely to have fallen over the region.
The area of the coast most favoured will span the Wide Bay and Capricornia between St Lawrence and Maryborough. For Brisbane, which had its last significant rain of more than 1mm in early September, 5 to 10mm falls will be welcome.
