Rain a relief for some

After one of the hottest Novembers on record for many places across the QLD and NSW interior, the precious rains of relief have finally arrived.

Queensland's Northwest and Channel Country districts were deluged with falls in excess of 30 millimetres over the last 24 hours.

Urandangi, just one of these inland towns, recorded 42 millimetres, falls not seen in 16 years for November.

Windorah similarly had a total of 39 mm to 9am, the largest in November in just under a decade.

The inland downpour is the result of a significant pool of cold air hovering over the southern NT region. This cold pool is set to weaken, but should shoot across NSW during Friday, with widespread rain preceding it.

The forecast rain could be between 20 to 30 millimetres across the NSW Lower Western, Riverina and surrounds, the best rain since March for some.

However, while many may welcome the opening of the heavens, it may not be the best time for farmers, with heavy falls a possibility to cause crop damage.
