The trough that is generating severe storms over northeast New South Wales and Queensland today will continue to drop heavy falls over the next few days.
This comes as moist northeasterly winds feed into a trough, which will continue to batter the area with rain. The bulls-eye for the heavy rainfall will be over interior parts of southeast QLD, some areas could see as much as 100mm into Friday morning.
The trough will stay almost stationary over the area, but weakening through the weekend. On top of their 100mm tonight, some of southeast QLD could see another 40 to 60mm to Sunday.
Northeast New South Wales will not be left out. Looking into tomorrow morning, amounts could reach 40 to 50mm. Friday to Sunday another 60mm could fall over the area.
This is the same region that was drenched just over a week ago with falls of 100mm or more in just a 24 hour period. After a dry winter the rain was needed, though maybe not all at once.
